NDNutrition Desk

About Nutrition Desk

Nutrition Desk is a small reference site with worked calculators for the nutrition numbers people actually have to decide on: body mass index, daily energy, macro splits, protein and fibre targets, added sugar, sodium and standard drinks. Every figure comes from published US or WHO guidance and every calculator shows the formula it used.

How we pick numbers

We use the primary source, not a blog post about the primary source: the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, NIH Office of Dietary Supplements fact sheets, FDA labelling rules, CDC reference pages and WHO guidance. Where the sources disagree, we say so and show both. Where a number is a prediction rather than a measurement, such as an energy expenditure equation, we state the typical error. Pages carry an updated date and we re-check them when a source guideline changes.

Advertising and how we earn

This site is funded by the products it advertises. The ad units you see are our own product placements, shown in the same style as a typical display ad, and they lead back to our store. We run no third-party ad networks and no sponsored content: the articles are written by us, grounded in public health sources, and the ads simply point you to what we sell.

The product cards you see on these pages are our own designs printed on apparel and homeware, sold from our own store. They are not paid placements, and no brand has reviewed or approved a page before publication. Nothing on this site is sponsored content or an affiliate link.

Educational use only

The content on this site is for general educational purposes and reflects widely published public health guidance. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always talk with a qualified healthcare provider before changing your diet, starting a supplement, or making a major dietary change, especially if you have a medical condition.

Reference ranges here describe generally healthy US adults. Pregnancy, childhood, kidney or liver disease, dialysis, transplant, eating-disorder history and most prescription interactions change the answer, and belong with a clinician or a registered dietitian rather than a calculator.
