BMI Calculator
Enter your height and weight to get your body mass index, the standard category it falls in, and the weight range that would put you in the 18.5 to 24.9 band for your height. BMI is a screening number, not a diagnosis.
How this is calculated
- Metric formula: weight in kg divided by height in metres squared. US formula: pounds divided by inches squared, times 703.
- The standard adult categories used by the CDC and the WHO are: below 18.5 underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 healthy weight, 25.0 to 29.9 overweight, 30.0 and above obese.
- BMI does not separate muscle from fat, so it is a weak sole measure for very muscular, very short or older adults. Waist circumference and blood markers add what it misses.
